"Vegan" Shampoo and Conditioner
ReeNoun
I'm going vegan! Well, at least my hair is. I found the Alaffia shampoo and conditioner set on sale at my neighborhood grocery store for $11 each. As you can see, those are hefty bottles, weighing in at 32 ounces + (the bottle). And because some of the proceeds go to charity efforts in Tago, West Africa, I felt good about lifting my no-more-buying-hair-care-products-until-I-run-out rule. I couldn't resist sniffing the vanilla mint whilst standing in the aisle. After a quick check of ingredients, I knew I had to try it. Alaffia's shampoo's #1 ingredient is: Butyrospermum parkii (Shea), and the Alaffia conditioner's first listed is: Zingiber Officinale (Ginger). Wwhaaaaaaat... not water? Not sodium lauryl sulfate, this is great. Like, most natural sistahs, I am on a 3-4 day rotation to wash day, so I will let you know when I try it--and if I like it.

UPDATED: APRIL 2017... NOT WORTH IT. SHAMPOO SMELLS GREAT BUT I THINK IT ROBBED MY TRESSES OF MOISTURE BECAUSE I HAD REALLY BAD FRIZZ AFTER. ALSO, THE CONDITIONER WAS JUST OK TO ME. AT LEAST PART OF THE PROCEEDS WENT TO CHARITY.
